Our Rocky Mountain Sweethearts

Hello lovelies! We're back with one of our favourite love stories in the Aspen Family.

Rena & Travis are two of the most romantic clients we’ve ever had the honour of creating for.

I heard from Rena for the first time way back in June 2017, she was eager to secure our services for her 2019 wedding and wanted to know where we would start. I told her it was a bit too early so she followed up in the fall and we set up a consultation in December and needless to say we hit it off right from the start. I think we chatted nearly 2 hours that day about everything from flowers to family to love and we just felt like we've known each other forever. She was a graphic designer in Toronto at the time and she wanted to secure her wedding vendors for her dream wedding, right before she moved across country with the love of her life. Rena was giving up her Toronto career to join Travis on the adventure of a lifetime, he was about to start his new career as an international border control officer on the border of Alaska & BC!! Is that not the best start to an epic love story or what?!

Rena & I kept in contact regularly throughout the next few months. I remember talking to her just shortly after they settled in and she sent me the view of her new hometown (see below) . Its absolutely breath-taking right?!

For most of us, the hustle just gets more intense. Our communities are constantly growing and expanding, everything feels faster and more intense with each passing season. Can you just imagine the peace and tranquility Rena must have been feeling in comparison to the daily Toronto commute! For the next 18 months, I enjoyed and cherished every update where I would hear about her new way of life.

There were many nights of late night DMs between us where we would just chat about their beautiful wedding, or Rena would just share images with me of her breathtaking surroundings. Rena also made multiple trips back home during the planning process and we even managed to squeeze in a spring site visit at the lovely Polemena Barn in Campbellford together along with her beautiful sister & the lovely Katie from The Event Design Co. - Rena’s month of wedding coordinator.

When the month finally arrived, Renas' mom flew out west and made the trek across country back to Ontario with Rena and her adorable pets by car on an adventure I’m sure they’ll never forget, while poor Travis stayed back to work a little longer.

All of the planning in the world couldn’t have predicted there would be a fire at their bed and breakfast just a few days before the wedding. I’m sure most brides would fall to pieces but Rena stayed strong and thankfully plan b came together quickly.

When the big day finally arrived It was the perfect summer day, the sun was shining bright and the tears were flowing the second Rena laid eyes on her bouquet. I have to say, she made me a little emotional too!! To see the joy on her face , made all the hard work melt away in an instant.

I can’t even begin to tell you what an honour it is to make memories like this with such wonderful souls. This is why I love what I do and why I stress over every little detail like its my own wedding. Thank you @renaalecia from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with your vision. All the amazing little details came together so beautifully with Rena’s gorgeous graphic design work & her custom made signage, the vast collection of milk glass bud vases Rena had collected for nearly two years along with the lovely copper accents throughout the beautiful Polmenna Barn. We had the pleasure of meeting her wedding coordinator Katie of @theeventdesignco for the first time at their spring site visit as I mentioned earlier and since then we’ve crossed paths a few more times and we can’t tell you how much we love her!!
